Katie Brines, Artist
Katie Brines grew up in Petoskey, along the shores of Lake Michigan. She received her B.F.A. from Aquinas College in painting and ceramics. In 2009, she was a recipient of a Vermont Studio Center (VSC) Fellowship to attend a one-month residency at the largest artist and writer residency program in the U.S. After her residency, she was hired as a staff artist at VSC where she spent two years working in admissions and painting in Northern Vermont. In the fall of 2015, Katie completed an artist-in-residency program in Sam Rit Thailand.
Katie has traveled throughout Central and Eastern Europe, the Caribbean Islands, and spent two months painting in Eastern London. Traveling and an appreciation for the natural environment are foundations of Katie's work and life. She now paints and lives in Petoskey and the natural surroundings of Northern Michigan impact Katie's abstract oil paintings.
Katie's work was included in the Spring 2015 Wildhearted exhibit, Crooked Tree Art Center, Petoskey. Katie's work can be at Three Pines Studio, Cross Village, and Dripworks, Petoskey.
